About the book

This is a picture book that seeks to help eight to ten-year-old children learn about and engage with money. It draws on everyday experiences, employs elementary language and takes the help of friendly characters along the way to explain the whys and the hows of earning, spending, saving, and investing money.

The content is interspersed with conversation starters and fillable worksheets that are designed to help the child go beyond the page and into reality. When they flip the last page of the book, a reader will know more about what turns the wheels of this world than they did before — and that'll make me very, very happy indeed.

Why I wrote this

When I was six, I taught my first class. Teddy bears. They didn't answer my questions, but I had the best time. Safe to say, I loved teaching. And then my little brother was born. As he grew up and made his way through school, I got to do a lot, lot more of it. Eighteen years out from that first teddy bear class, I still love teaching.

I also grew up with a bookshelf towering over me at all times. Reading books made me who I am. Holding a book with my name on it is pretty much all I've ever wanted.

And finally, I'm a finance professional by trade — and a lifelong learner of the discipline. This book, then, in some way, feels like the inevitable product (and labour of love) of who I am as a person.
